$12^{4} - 10^{2} = 144^{2} - 10^{2} = (144 + 10) (144 - 10) = 154 \times 134$
In both the numbers, at unit place the digit is 4, hence when it gets multiplied we get $4 \times 4 = 16$ , so in the units place digit will be 6
