  4. Tearing of ligaments can result in different grades of the sprains.
  5. A ligament tear occurs due to extreme forces or bending to a joint such as with a fall or some high-impact event.
  6. This tissue also has considerable strength & remarkable elasticity, allowing the stretching of various organs.

If ligaments are torn:

  1. If the ligaments are cut or broken, then bones will become unfixed.
  2. Severe pain with no improvement within 24 - 72 hours can be felt after a ligament tear.
  3. No change in swelling within 24 - 72 hours is observed.
  4. Bruising can be seen.
  5. Snapping, popping, or a crackling sound at the time of injury can be heard.
  6. Inability to move the joint is the main symptom of ligament tear.
