Question

What will happen if microbes in the soil get destroyed?

Open in App
Solution

Soil:

  1. Soil is made up of various microorganisms that have both advantages and disadvantages.
  2. These microorganisms include bacteria, protozoans, Archaebacteria, fungus, and a range of other species that make the soil nutrient-rich and fruitful for plant or crop growth.

The function of microbes:

  1. Microorganisms play a vital part in soil fertility, and many different types of microorganisms are found on the planet.
  2. Microbes are important in nutrient cycling because certain organisms in the soil connect with plants and engage in nitrogen fixation, converting atmospheric nitrogen to ammonia and subsequently to nitrates and nitrites, making the soil nitrogen-rich, which is necessary for plant growth.
  3. Some fungi mycorrhizae feed on dead and decaying creatures and other dead organic materials, making the soil nutrient-rich, increasing the availability of mineral nutrients, and improving fertility status.

If microbes in the soil get destroyed:

  1. If the soil microbes are eliminated, it affects soil respiration and nutrient cycling, making the soil more stupid and worthless for plant development.
  2. As a result, the elimination of microorganisms in soil disrupts the overall harmony that exists between soil and plants, and the interaction with the environment makes soil less nutritious.
