Question

What will happen if plasma membrane ruptures?

Open in App
Solution

Plasma membrane is the outer covering of the cell that separates and protects its content from the surrounding medium. It is a selectively permeable membrane and regulates the movement of the substances in and out of the cell by diffusion or osmosis.
If the plasma membrane is ruptured, then the cell might leak out its organelles to the surrounding medium and the activities inside the cell will be interrupted, further leading to the cell dying.
