Effects of low iodine intake:

  1. Iodine is present mainly in salt which we use in our normal day-to-day routine.
  2. The absence of iodine causes low thyroid function in the body.
  3. Less iodine intake can lead to enlargement of the thyroid gland which is called goiter.
  4. The children are more prone to iodine deficiencies which cause mental disabilities in children.
  5. High infant mortality, thyroid, lower fertility rate, and mental disorders are the majorly happening effects of less iodine intake.
