So, $\text{Area}=a^2\cdots \cdots \left(1\right)$

Now, if side is tripled ${\text{side}}_2=3a$

$\therefore {\text{Area}}_2=(3a{)}^2=9a^2\cdots \cdots (2)$

From $\left(1\right)$ and $\left(2\right)$

${\text{Area}}_2=9\times \text{Area}$

So, when side of square is tripled its area will become $9$ times.
