$\Rightarrow$ Volume $\left(V\right)$ of cube will be $a^3$

Now, when edge is halved

$\Rightarrow \text{Edge}=\frac{a}{2}$

$\therefore$ New Volume $\left(V_1\right)={\left(\frac{a}{2}\right)}^3$

$=\frac{a^3}{2^3}$

$=\frac{a^3}{8}$

$=\frac{1}{8}\left(V\right)$

Hence, if the edge of the cube is halved, then the volume becomes $\frac{1}{8}$ times.
