Litmus paper:

  1. Litmus paper is a filter paper that has been treated with a lichen-provided natural-soluble dye.
  2. Litmus paper is a piece of paper that produces a result that can be used as a pH indicator.
  3. Litmus is mainly used to assess whether a solution is acidic or basic.
  4. With light blue litmus paper turning red under acidic conditions and red litmus paper turning blue under basic or alkaline conditions.
  5. Purple litmus paper is neutral.

(i) Solution of Sodium sulfate:

  1. Sodium sulfate (Na2SO4) is formed by a reaction between sodium hydroxide and sulphuric acid which are strong bases and acids, respectively. Thus, it is a neutral salt with a pH of 7.
  2. Therefore no color change will be observed when red litmus paper is introduced in this solution.
