Solution

The following effect is produced if the adrenal gland is removed:

  1. Low blood pressure and blood volume in the body because aldosterone maintains normal body pressure and blood volume in the body.
  2. Imbalance of water and electrolytes like Na+, Cl- and K+ ions in our body because mineralocorticoids produced by the adrenal cortex regulated the balance of water and electrolytes in our body.
  3. Metabolism and catabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins get disturbed.
  4. Gluconeogenesis (conversion of amino acids and fatty acids into glucose) does not start.
  5. Decreased gastrointestinal activity and decreased breakdown of glycogen.
