Apomictic embryos:

1. The embryos that are formed without process of fertilisation and are directly developed from diploid egg present in the embryo sac are known as apomictic embryos.
2. Sometimes there is no proper mitotic & meiotic divisions in embryo sac.
3. This leads to the formation of diploid egg.
4. The diploid egg directly develops into a new organism.
5. As there is no fertilisation, newly formed embryo is genetically similar to parent and is known as the clone.
6. Hence, the parent and apomictic embryo are genetically similar.
