Solution

Dear student,
The ratio of chromosome number between an egg and zygote is 1:2 because an egg has 23 chromosomes and a zygote has 46 chromosomes.

Sperm is the male gamete which fuses with an egg to form the zygote. Sperm are motile whereas egg is non motile. A sperm will always carry XY chromosomes whereas an egg will always carry XX chromosomes. Also during spermatogenesis four sperms are formed whereas only one egg forms during oogenesis.
