They are a pair of glands located at the top of each of the kidneys.

Adrenalectomy:

  1. Surgical removal of the adrenal gland is known as an adrenalectomy.
  2. If the adrenal gland is removed the kidneys fail to retain sodium and the body will fail to regulate fat, carbohydrate, and protein metabolism.
  3. It will not produce stress hormones and not be able to develop secondary sex characters in males.
