Question

What would happen if xylem of plant roots are blocked?

Open in App
Solution

Plants use xylem tissues to transport water. If xylem is removed the transportation of water will not happen .The plant will not be able to make his food , the plant will die out

Xylem is the vascular vessel which transports water from the roots to the leaves where it is used for the process of photosynthesis. In the absence of xylem, water will not reach the leaves and thus, photosynthesis won't take place for it needs 6 H2O.As a result the plant wilts and dies.
