Introduction to thymus :

Thymus gland is located in the chest behind the sternum in between the lungs and are the primary lymphoid organs. The T cells undergo maturation in the thymus.


Effect of removal of thymus:

Removal of the thymus gland will cause the following:-

$\bullet$ T cells maturation will not happen
$\bullet$ Cell-mediated immunity will decrease
$\bullet$ People will be more susceptible to infections
