Solution
The correct option is B No orographic rainfall When mountain of uplands act as barriers as airflow, forcing the air to ascend, moist air moving upslope cools adiabatically, producing clouds and precipitation. Most of this precipitation falls upwind in the mountain ridge. On the lee side of the mountain range rainfall is usually low. This area is called rain-shadow area. Example Mahabaleshwar situated on the western ghats receives more than 600 cm of rainfall, whereas Pune lying in rain-shadow area receives only 70 cm. If the Earth surface become all plain there will be no orographic rainfall.
