The eukaryotic cells when placed in hypotonic, hypertonic and isotonic solutions shows the following observations:
Hypotonic solution:
Cell will swell.
The eukaryotic cells placed in the hypotonic solution will allow the water to rush inside the cell through the process of endosmosis.
Hypertonic solution:
The movement of water in this case will occur towards the exterior of the cell which will lead to the shrinkage of the cell.
Isotonic solution:
The osmolarity of both the fluids is equal and water diffuses in equal amounts resulting in no change in the volume of the cell.
