Question

What’s the difference between isolated system and adiabatic system?

Open in App
Solution

An isolated system has no contact with its surroundings. It is a physical system where neither matter nor energy can be exchanged between the surrounding and the system, but it can only move around inside the system whereas an adiabatic system is the one where no heat is added or removed from the system but volume can be varied. Thus an isolated system with volume will result in an adiabatic system.
