Question

When 100 ml of O2 and O3 mixture was passed through turpentine, there was a reduction of volume by 20 ml. If 100 ml of such a mixture is heated, what will be the increase in volume?

Open in App
Solution

Volume of O2=x mL

Since O3 is absorbed by turpentine oil.

Volume of O3=(100x)=20x=80mL

If the mixture is heated, O3 will be decomposed

O3Δ32O2

20 mL32×20 ml=30 mL

Total volume now =80ml+30mL=110mL

Increase in volume =10 mL
