Question

When 100g of a saturated solution is evaporated at 50C, 50g of solid is left over. Find the solubility of the substance at 50C

Open in App
Solution

Solid left over on evaporation is 50 g Solubility (S)
=(W(solute)/Wsolvent)×100 ............ (1)
Amount of solute = 50 g ................ (2)
Wsolution=Wsolute+Wsolvent
100=50+Wsolvent
Wsolvent=50g ............ (3)
Substituting (2) and (3) in (1), we get Solubility (S) =(50/50)×=100
