The Einstein's equation for photoelectric effect is given by , eV0=hcλhcλ0 where e= charge of electron, h= Planck's constant, V0= stopping potential , c= velocity of light, λ= wavelength of incident light and λ0= threshold wavelength.

When V0=VeV=hcλhcλ0..(1)

and when V0=V/3e(V/3)=hc2λhcλ0...(2)

From (1) and (2), hc3λhc3λ0=hc2λhcλ0

or 23λ0=16λ

or λ0=4λ
