Question

When a coil is connected to a 100 V dc supply. The current is 2 A. When the same coil is connected to a.c. source E=1002sinωt, the current is 1 A. Find the inductive reactance used :

Solution

Given, Voltage=100v,I=2A

We know that in Dc circuit,

I=vRR=VI=1002=50Ω

Or in the Ac circuit Irms=Vrmsz1=100zz=100Ω

Now,

z=R2+x2L=502+x2L=100xL=503
