Question

When a current of 0.5 A is passed through two resistor in series, the potential difference between the ends of series arrangment is 12.5V.on connecting them in parallel and passing a current of 1.5A ,the potential difference between their ends is TV . Calculate the two resistances.

Solution

Please provide the correct voltage in the question .

We use basic formula here V=IR where
V= Potential Difference
I= Current
R= Respective Resistance in series or parrallel

First case use series where (r1+r2)*0.5= 12.5
therefore r1+r2= 25

now use parallel
(1/r1+1/r2)*1.5= ????? V
((r1+r2)/(r1*r2))= ????V/1.5
using above equation
25/r1r2 = ????V/1.5

please put your volts in above equation

you ll get 2 equations
solve them and u get the asnwer
