Question

When a gas is compressed keeping the temperature constant it results in

Open in App
Solution

Boyle's law:

  • According to Boyle's law, “at a constant temperature, the volume of a gas varies inversely with the pressure exerted.”

Compression of gas at a constant temperature:

  • If a gas is compressed at a constant temperature, the pressure on the gas increases and the volume decreases according to Boyle's law.
  • Therefore, the gas molecules do not have much space for motion. Thus, more collisions between gas molecules take place.
