  1. Ebonite when rubbed with any other substance acquires a negative charge because ebonite has the lowest frictional order.
  2. Glass when rubbed with silk, acquires a positive charge because glass has a higher frictional order than silk.
  3. When these two rods will be suspended they will attract because the ebonite rod is negatively charged and the glass rod is positively charged.
  4. And opposite charges attract each other and the same charge repels each other.
