When a person uses deodorant spray, the other person standing at a distance would hear the sound of spraying first and the fragrance of spray would reach him later. Why so?

The smell of deodorant comes due to diffusion of the fragrant particles through the air. This takes a bit longer than the sound waves. As such the sound waves travel faster and reach our ears before we smell the deodorant.
