Charges are present on the surface of all conductors.
Conductors have free electrons, which are loosely linked to the nucleus of the atoms in the conductors.
The electrons migrate to one side of the conductor when exposed to an external electric field, and an electric field is formed inside the conductor due to the separation of positive and negative charges, as shown in the diagram.
4. In the case of conductors, this electric field is equivalent to the external electric field, neutralising it.
