  1. When a ray of light bounces back from a surface, we say it has been reflected.
  2. A ray travelling towards a reflecting surface is called an incident ray.
  3. The incident ray bouncing back to the same medium after striking the plane mirror is called a reflected ray.
  4. And this process of bouncing back light is called reflection.
  5. According to laws of reflection the incident ray, the reflected ray, and the normal lie on the same plane.
  6. The incident angle is equal to the reflected angle.

Hence, a ray of light bounces back from a surface, we say it has been reflected.
