When a solid melts its temperature remains constaint. Give reason

Solution
The temperature remains constant till all solid melts into liquid. This is because the heat that is supplied for changing a solid state into its liquid state is used for overcoming and weakening the particle-particle attraction force. The solid substance thus absorbs heat energy without showing any rise in temperature till the entire solid is converted to liquid. And this heat energy is termed as 'Latent heat of Fusion'.
