Question

When a striker hits the bottom of the pile of coins placed at the centre of a carrom board, only the lowest coin is displaced. Explain.

Its cause is that when the pile of coin is struck then it only touches the buttom coin and the rest tense to be at rest as all the coines are separate object. This is because by the law of inertia at rest , only the lowest coin get moved by the unbalanced force acting on it.
