Solution

The correct option is C 259 Hz
Given, known frequency of B is,
NB=256 Hz.

NB produces 3 beats per second with NA. After that A is loaded with wax and sounded, the again 3 beats per second are observed.

x=3 bps (Which remains the same after loading).

Frequency of A=?

When the unknown tuning fork (A) is loaded with wax, the frequency (NA) is decreasing. But both the NB and x are not changed when loaded. Hence,

NANB=x
NA=NB+x
NA=256+3
NA=259 Hz
