What is the inhalation process?

Open in App
Solution

Inhalation Process:

  1. Air enters our lungs when we inhale (breath in), and oxygen from that air travels to our bloodstream.
  2. Carbon dioxide, a waste gas, flows from our blood to our lungs and is exhaled at the same time (breathed out).
  3. This mechanism, known as gas exchange, is necessary for life to exist.

Mechanism of breathing:

  1. Our lungs are the most important part of our respiratory system.
  2. The trachea (windpipe), chest wall and diaphragm muscles, blood vessels, and other tissues make up our respiratory system.
  3. All of these components allow for breathing and gas exchange.
  4. Our brain regulates our breathing rate (how quickly or slowly we breathe) by monitoring our body's requirement for oxygen and carbon dioxide removal.
