Question

When an object is kept in between optical centre and focus in front of convex lens, draw ray-diagram of image formation.

Open in App
Solution

We follow the usual method of drawing the ray-diagram:
Consider two rays starting from the object. One passes through the optical center of the lens and the other would get refracted by the lens. e observe that on the other side of the lens, both these rays diverge and the image location can be found by extending the refracted rays backwards on the object's side the lens.
When object AB is placed between the optical center and Focus F1 of the Convex lens, the image AB is always located somewhere on the same side of the lens as the object and somewhere further from the lens. The image is located behind the object is upright and enlarged.
