Heart sound:

  1. The sound occurring during the cardiac cycle are known as heart sounds.
  2. The basic heart sound is LUBB and DUBB.
  3. LUBB or LUB is the first heart sound and DUBB or DUB is the second heart sound.
  4. These sounds are generally heard with the help of a stethoscope.

LUBB or LUB:

  1. It is the first heart sound.
  2. It is a prolonged sound.
  3. This sound is caused by the closure of the mitral and bicuspid valve (it occurs at the time of ventricular contraction)

DUBB or DUB:

  1. It is the second heart sound.
  2. It is a short and sharp sound.
  3. This sound is caused by the closure of the aortic and pulmonary valves(semilunar valves). At this time ventricles are present in the diastolic condition.
