Solution

The correct option is A Iodide

Acidify the Lassaigne’s extract with nitric acid and add a few drops of freshly prepared chlorine water. Free Br2, I2 will be evolved. Shake this solution with carbon disulphide or carbon tetrachloride. The liberated halogens (Br2, I2) will dissolve in it giving as orange or brown colour for bromine and violet colour for iodine.

2NaBr+Cl22NaCl+Br2(Brown)2NaI+Cl22NaCl+I2(Violet)
