When current is 'switched on ' and switched off' in a coil, a current is induced in another coil kept near it . What is this phenomenon known as ?

This phenomenon is known as electromagnetic induction. When current is switched on and switched off, the increasing and decreasing current produces a changing magnetic field which in turn generates current in the wire kept near it.
