India experienced censorship of media during the time of Brtish raj when the nationalism began to resist the oppression of the foreign rule.There were various acts passed to curb this growing wave of media like Lytton's vernacular press act IX of 1878,Newspaper incitement to offences act passed in 1908,the Indian press act of 1909 etc.
