17 and 18th century we witness the process of proto industrialisation whereby
With the shrinking of the open fields and Commons, peasants were left with small plots of land not sufficient to meet their family needs , merchants who had now turned to the countryside and provided an alternate source to the peasnats and artisans. This phase certainly witnessed increased trade due to relationship between the town and the countryside.

However, Industrialisation was triggered of by the following methods and processes during 19th century

a. 19th Century is marked by rapid socio , economic changes characterised by technological developments, inventions bringing about change from a domestic system to a factory system.
b. It is identified with the establishment with factories, industries , rise of industrial labour force.
c. ​With the changes and development of the industrial societies, railways road networks were widened and developed to ensure easy flow and mobility of raw materials and goods.

d. Industrialisation was considered to part of the modernisation process as it brought about urbanisation, growth of industrial towns, cities. There was increased migration of people in search of better job opportunities.
e. The first symbol of industrialisation was considered to be cotton industry, that expanded rapidly.
f. Another method that gave a boon to industrialisation was
inventions like fly shuttle, spinning jenny .
g. The series of inventions enhanced the efficiency of the production process and brought about specialisation.

This period witnessed Flow of trade- It represented trading activities between countries like India aad the European countries. The India cotton industry and textiles , including silk centuries had for centuries made India's name a byword in the World . Merchants from Central Asia through land and sea routes established a vast network of export trade . The East India Company, after industrial process, was no longer interested in buying Indian manufactured goods, rather looked for market for its own goods. This increased export of British cotton goods to India on a large scale. By 19th century , India became an exporter of raw material and importer of Britain manufacturing goods.
i. This period also witnessed increased flow of goods, with industralisation there was large scale production of goods, which led to huge flooding and imports of machine made goods in colonies. For instance, India supplied raw materials to Britain for its industries and provided market for its cheap machine made goods.
