Question

When electron clouds overlap, do they stop revolving around the nucleus?

Open in App
Solution

The electron cloud is spread both between the nuclei of the two atoms and around it. So, the electron is still revolving around the nuclei and also being shared. Mostly it goes to the two nuclei alternatively. However, the shape of this cloud and the relative share depends on the type of hybrid form.
