When ethanol react with ethanoic acid in presence of H₂SO₄ then ethylethanoate is formed.

a) Fruity smell compound- ester

Reaction : CH₃CH₂OH + CH₃COOH -------> CH₃COOCH₂CH₃

b) Concentrated H₂SO₄ act as dehydrating agent.
