When gas (A) is passed through dry KOH at low temperature, a deep red coloured compound (B) and a gas (C) are obtained. The gas A, on reaction with but-2-ene, followed by treatment with Zn/H2O yields acetaldehyde. (A), (B) and (C) are identified as Ox, KOy and Oz. What is x+y+z?

Potassium hydroxide with some ozone forms KO3, a red coloured compound and oxygen gas.
KOH+O3KO3+O2+H2O
Hence, A is O3, B is KO3 and C is O2
x+y+z=3+3+2=8
