H2S gas in acidic medium is the reagent for group II cation.
Here,
Cr3+ is of group III and Co2+ is of group IV
Cd2+ and Hg2+ are of group II
So, CdS and HgS will be fomed, whereas Cr2S3 and CoS will not be formed.
Group III form hydroxides whose reagent is NH4OH in the presence of NH4Cl. Reagent for ggroup IV is H2S in basic media.
