Let's consider,
BV= Vertical component of earth magnetic field
BH= Horizontal component at magnetic meridian
The angle of dip at the magnetic meridian is given by
tan300=BVBH. . . . . . . .(1)
When the plane of dip circle is rotated by 300, then the vertical component is the same but the horizontal component of the earth magnetic field becomes BHcos300.
tanθ=BVBHcos300=BVBH.1cos300
tanθ=tan300.1cos300 (from equation 1)
