When somebody puts acetone (nail polish remover) on our hand, we experience a cooling sensation. Why?
Evaporation of petrol.
Evaporation causes cooling. The particles of a substance while evaporating consumes heat energy from its surroundings and converts into vapour. Acetone has a low boiling point of 56∘ C. So, when we put acetone in our hand, it evaporates by absorbing heat from the hand easily. Therefore, we feel cold.
