A redox reaction takes place between thesulfur and sulfuric acid, forming sulphur dioxide and water.

S+2H2SO43SO2+2H2O

Sulphur is oxidised to sulphur dioxide by hot and concentrated sulphuric acid, and the acid also gets reduced to the same product (sulphur oxide) by sulphur.

So H2SO4 is reduced. So sulfur is a reducer.

Hence option D is correct.
