Sun rays contain light rays with seven different wavelengths. When these different components pass through a prism, the refractive index of the prism material will be different for different wavelengths. This will cause the splitting of components which is known as dispersion.
On the other hand, deviation in the prism is a general characteristic of light. as there is a change in media the light rays will refract and bend.
