The transfer of the pollen grains from the male part of the plant (anther of a stamen) to the female part of the plant (stigma of a pistil) is called Pollination.

Types of pollination

  1. Self pollination- The transfer of the pollen grain from the anther of a flower to the stigma of the same flower in the same plant or to the different plant which is genetically similar is called self pollination.
  2. Cross pollination- The transfer of the pollen grain from the anther of a flower to the stigma of the one flower to the different plant is called cross pollination.
