Question

When two bodies move uniformly towards each other ,then the distance between them decreases by 8m/s.if both the bodies move in the same direction with the same speeds ,then the distance between them increased by 4m/s.what are the speeds of two bodies ?

Open in App
Solution

Let the speed of the bodies be x and y
When the two bodies moving uniformly towards each other,
x + y = 8 ....... (1)
and, when the bodies move in the same direction with the same speeds,
x - y = 4 ..... (2)

Solving (1) and (2)
x = 6 and y = 2
The speed of the bodies is 6 m/s^2 and 2 m/s^2
