Using parallelogram law,

R2=P2+Q2+2PQcos90

R2=P2+Q2 ------------(I)


(Assuming P>Q)

|R|=|P||Q|

R2=PQ

R=2(PQ) ------------(II)

Putting (II) in (I)

we get;

[2(PQ)]2=P2+Q2

(2)2[P2+Q22PQ]=P2+Q2

2P2+2Q24PQ=P2+Q2

P2+Q24PQ=0

P2Q2+14(PQ)=0

Let PQ=x , x24x+1=0

x=(4)±(4)24(1)(1)2(1)

=4±122

x=2±3=PQ

Hence, option (B) is correct.
