Solution

The property of ice is such that it melts when pressure is applied to it. The reason for it is that an increase in pressure decreases the melting point of ice. When two ice cubes are pressed hard between the palms, the melting point of ice lowers which leads to the formation of a thin layer of water where they are pressed together. When the pressure is released , the ice cubes join together. The lowering of pressure increases the freezing point of the ice cubes and they fuse together.
