Let f0 be the initial frequency of fork B.
Number of beats heard per second is ν, when fork A and B are sounded together.
fB=|fAf0|=v
f0=f+ν or fν
When fork B is loaded with wax, its frequency decreases. However it is given that beat frequency also decreases.
Considering f0 to be fν, it will further reduce after waxing. Therefore beat frequency increase i.e fB>ν
Again, considering f0 to be f+ν, it will further reduce after waxing. Therefore beat frequency decreases i.e fB<ν
